A Day at Surfers Paradise via Public Transport
For six months, the fare for trains, buses, and trams are only 50 cents wherever we go! So it’s time for me to experience going to Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast via public transportation.
This is how the journey will look like via bus, train, and then tram. It’s gonna take me 2 hours 40 min versus 1 hour 10 minutes via car.
Chilly 7 AM morning. Waiting for the bus to Roma Street Station.
Arrived at Roma Street Station. Looks neat and clean. This is new as I was told.
Tap my gocard for the train.
Walking to the platform.
Selfie first.
Waiting for the train to Helensvale.
People started to come.
At Roma Street Station. Not gonna miss another photo opportunity.
Here comes the train to Gold Coast. First time to go via train because we always drive going there but now that the fare is cheap, we’re gonna try it.
View on the way to South Brisbane Station.
South Bank at this point and more people are going in.
I’m hungry. Didn’t have my breakfast yet. It’s 8 in the morning and there’s about two more hours of travel time. I don’t have any food with me.
This journey would have been more comfortable if only the sun is not on my face. There’s an empty seat across and I wanna move but couldn’t.
Loganlea station. Saw this pretty nice painting of kangaroos by the lake. Train almost full now. My stomach stopped grumbling.
Beenleigh station. Sun’s still on my face. Sitting on the left side of the train to south is not a good idea. I’ve been smelling food. Somehow I miss vendors selling food on the bus. I want to eat right now. I’m craving for “tupig”.
Ormeau Station. My legs are starting to feel sore I wanna stretch them. Also I’m feeling sleepy. I need that coffee now.
Arrived at Helensvale Station.
Have to go on another side for the tram to Surfers Paradise.
Tap that go card because not doing so is about $200+ fine when you got caught!
Taking photo of this timetable just in case in becomes handy later on.
This station looks neat. Don’t know why but that electronic board hides the info when I point my camera. Security?
This is how it looks like when you capture it quickly before it’s gone.
Here comes the tram.
Quick photo op inside the tram to Surfers Paradise. This tram is packed! Lots of people going to places. Fortunately got seats.
Got off at Cavill Avenue. Somehow this reminds me of Henry Cavill.
Finally at Gold Coast after 2 hours 40 minutes of travel via bus, train and tram! For comparison, it takes about 1 hour 10 minutes via car.
Searched for cafe and this came up. Highly rated so we gotta try.
Cute sign. And profit goes to charity!
Gonna order toast and hot drink.
Reading some of the comments while waiting for our orders.
Trying to capture the ambiance of the cafe via photo but gets disappointed because I can’t. You really have to be there to experience what it feels like: the aesthetic, the smell, the people talking. I love the vibe of dining in a cafe.
Hot chocolate arrived first. Looks simple. Unlike chocolate drinks I’ve had before.
Herbed Chicken (Chicken, Garden Herbs, Kewpie and American Cheese)
Time to explore this place again and burn calories.
An Air Show event is happening but not sure what time it starts.
Come here bird and take a selfie. Don‘t be shy! 😛
Time for lunch here at Benny’s.
Here’s their menu and I’m ordering a cheeseburger.
Tables are empty when we came in but it started to get busy later on.
Why is the patty like that? Didn’t really like this cheeseburger. Something’s missing.
Last time I went here in Gold Coast, I wanted to try Halo-halo. Now that I’m back, I’ll definitely get one.
Interior design looks cute with all the items you can find in the Philippines. The flag, the lights, the names on the wall.
Here comes my Halo-halo! Cravings satisfied! And I’m so full.
Back at Cavill Avenue to take the tram. Time to go home.
It was good to be back at Surfers Paradise.
Helensvale Station. Fortunately there’s not a lot of people going back to city. Plenty of empty chairs for us.
I think my watch’s battery is old now. Haven’t even used it all day.
Loganlea. Tired and sleepy already.
Back at South Brisbane then gonna walk to the bus station.
Got of the bus and now walking home. Tired but happy!
Overall transport cost: A$1.00!
